Full Flight Simulator for the MiG-21bis supersonic jet fighter aircraft has
been designed to train pilots flying this type of aircraft, allowing
following tasks to be carried out:
- Comprehensive flight training,
- Visual flight conditions training and instrument meteorological
conditions flight training,
- Radio-navigational flight training,
- On-board weapons delivery training - combating air targets and
attacking ground targets
- Flight with a use of autopilot and target approach and
guidance system.
The simulator was designed to co-operate with a
simulator OBERON for training ground based navigators
operating target approach and guidance system.
General description of the simulator
This was a first digital flight simulator used by the Polish Air
Force. It was developed from a Soviet built
training device KTS-4. Cockpit construction with instrument panels, primary
flight controls and flight controls loading simulating system was
retained from the old device. However uneconomical and
obsolete analogue calculating system was replaced by
a new digital one, based on PC type computers.
Additionally all instruments and navigational systems
imitators were replaced with the new ones.
The simulator featured one channel collimated type projection
system. PC type computer, fitted with a specialised graphic
card was used as a image generator.
The simulator entered service in July 1991 and after 12
years of intense usage it was struck of charge by
the Polish Air Force in 2003, together with the
last MiG-21bis fighters being retired. Modified 2005-01-27 |
